Children are great- they force you to confront your beliefs and values, they often express their emotions freely and they will tell you exactly what they think of you. So working with them is a fun and exiting challenge which I enjoy. I have taught kids' dance classes, worked as a summer camp counselor, a substitute teacher and was the managing librarian of a children's library department, so I have experience working with kids of various ages.
I strongly believe society needs to invest in their children because they are key to a better future. Additionally children should learn to invest in their own their physical, emotional, and spiritual health, too. And it is through yoga that I help kids develop important aspects of themselves such as self-acceptance, confidence, compassion, as well as improved physical conditioning like coordination, strength, and balance.
Of course, there is also the alarming rate of childhood obesity and yoga can be a strong intervention in helping motivate children to lead a healthier lifestyle, with the support and encouragement of their parents.
